How do AI Overviews choose which law firm pages to show?

Google has not published a formula for which pages AI Overviews cite. What it has said is that a page must be indexed and eligible to appear in Search with a snippet, and that no extra technical requirements or special optimizations exist beyond standard search practices.

What that means for a firm

First, check eligibility. If your pages carry a nosnippet directive or a tight max-snippet limit, Google can show less of your text, including in AI features. Second, the page has to be a good answer: specific, accurate, and clearly organized. Google also notes that meeting its requirements does not guarantee a page will be crawled, indexed, or served.

How to see whether it is working

Google includes AI feature traffic in the Web search type in Search Console rather than reporting it separately. To see whether your firm is actually cited, run dated question tests; see how to track AI citations.
