How can a law firm tell whether AI is citing it?

There is no single dashboard for it. Google counts AI Overview and AI Mode traffic inside the Web search type in Search Console rather than reporting it separately, so firms track AI citations with dated, repeated question tests across assistants, alongside their own intake records.

A simple method

  1. Write down 15 to 25 questions your clients actually ask.
  2. Each month, ask them in ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Google AI Mode.
  3. Record the date, the assistant, the location used, whether your firm was named or linked, and which sources were cited instead.
  4. Keep the results separate from inquiries, consultations, and retained clients.

Why keep the measures separate

A citation is not a consultation. Blending visibility numbers with intake numbers makes it impossible to tell which work produced a client. Our homepage shows the seven measures we report and where each comes from.
