We build the content infrastructure attorneys actually need.

Not the content other agencies have been selling for the past decade. The content AI search engines are actually citing. The content your firm should already have.

Why Smart Chimp exists

Smart Chimp was built specifically for the moment attorney marketing is in right now. Not for the SEO world of 2015. Not for the content marketing world of 2020. For the AI-mediated search world that took over in the last 24 months and is going to define how clients find attorneys for the next decade.

That world works differently than the one most agencies are still selling against.

Ten years ago, content marketing meant ranking on the first page of Google. Five years ago, it meant winning the local pack. Today it means getting cited by ChatGPT, AI Mode, Perplexity, Gemini, and the background information agents that surface attorneys to specific prospects tracking specific topics.

The agencies that still write “10 tips” blog posts and call them SEO are not adapting. They are watching their attorney clients become invisible to the people who used to find them.

We built Smart Chimp because that gap needed to be filled by someone who understood both halves of the problem — the technical engineering that gets content cited, and the linguistic methodology that makes the citations stick.

Five things we believe about attorney content marketing

Generic AI content is killing attorney visibility.

Most attorney blog posts written in the last two years sound like they were written by ChatGPT because they were. AI search engines have learned to discount that content, which means attorneys publishing it are losing ground every month. The fix isn’t writing less content. The fix is writing content that doesn’t sound like every other AI-generated page on the internet.

Citation, not ranking, is the new metric that matters.

Ranking on page one of Google still matters, but it’s no longer the destination. The destination is getting named in the AI-generated answers prospects see before they ever click. Two or three attorneys get named per query. Everyone else is invisible. The work is making sure your firm is in the two or three, not in the everyone else.

Voice is a competitive moat, not a tone preference.

When AI engines can produce passable content for almost any practice area in seconds, the only thing that distinguishes attorneys is how they actually think and write. Voice is the moat. We engineer it into every page because the alternative — content that could have come from

The work that matters should happen upfront.

Most marketing agencies sell retainers and stretch the work that moves the needle across 12 months. We do that work in 30 to 90 days, deliberately. If a client wants ongoing engagement after the foundation is solid, that’s a separate conversation. We don’t believe in earning a retainer by withholding the work that should have happened in month one.

Exclusivity protects the work we just built for you.

We work with one firm per practice area per metro. Not because exclusivity sounds good in a pitch. Because we just spent 60 days building the content that gets you cited in your market, and the moment we do the same work for your competitor across town, we’ve cannibalized our own client’s results. The exclusivity rule protects what we build for the firms who hire us.

Three things we do differently

Project-based, not retainer-based.

Foundation projects get built in 30 to 90 days at a fixed price scoped to your firm. Ongoing engagements are separate, month-to-month, and entered into only after the foundation is solid. No 12-month contracts. No retainer creep.

Proprietary methodology, not off-the-shelf tools.

Voice DNA, citation engineering, the Strategic Gap Analysis, the production system that ties them together — these are not capabilities a competitor can replicate by buying a ChatGPT subscription. They were built specifically for attorney content over years of work and continue to evolve as AI search engines evolve.

One firm per practice area per metro.

Market exclusivity is the strongest commitment we make to the firms who hire us. We will not take on a direct competitor of yours in your market for the duration of our engagement. Your investment in the content infrastructure stays defended.

Who we work with

Solo attorneys and small-to-midsize firms (1-20 attorneys) in practice areas where prospects research before they call. Estate planning. Business law. Family law. Personal injury. Immigration. Criminal defense. Employment. Elder law.

Firms that take their work seriously and want their content to reflect that. Firms that understand AI search has changed the rules and want to act before their competitors figure it out. Firms that prefer working with one specialist who actually knows attorney content over working with a generalist agency that does “marketing for everyone.”

We turn down firms that want generic content at scale. We turn down firms that want to wait and see whether AI search is real. We turn down firms whose competitors we already represent.

The standards we hold ourselves to

Every page we publish has to sound like the attorney actually wrote it.

Not “written about the attorney's practice area.” Not “in a professional legal tone.” Written in the specific voice of the specific attorney whose name appears on the byline. If we can't get to that standard, we don't ship.

Every claim we make in client content has to be verifiable.

Statute citations. Case references. Regulatory data. Statistical claims. Everything anchored to a primary source. We don't publish content with floating claims, because AI search engines don't cite content with floating claims.

Every project gets fixed pricing before signing.

Scope is determined on the strategy call. Price is determined before any work begins. We don't quote ranges that grow during delivery. We don't bill for scope changes you didn't request. The number we quote is the number you pay.

Every revision within scope is included.

Voice is hard to get exactly right on the first draft. We keep working until the voice is right, no additional billing, no friction. Revisions outside the original scope are quoted separately.

Every client engagement is honest about whether we're the right fit.

If we don't think we're the right partner for a firm, we say so on the strategy call. If we think a firm would be better served by a different approach, we explain why. The strategy call is not a sales pitch. It's a fit conversation.

Want to see if we're the right fit for your firm?

Book the 30-minute strategy call. We’ll run a preliminary gap analysis against your top competitors, show you what AI search currently sees when it looks at your firm, and tell you honestly whether what we do is what you actually need.
