The state-level rules, including the Rule 7.2(c) same-paragraph statement for specialist claims, are in the Minnesota guide. This page covers what is different about Minneapolis: one county with many city names, courts spread across several buildings, and a recent change in where Family Court sits.
Forty-five cities, one district
The Minnesota Judicial Branch says the Fourth Judicial District includes only Hennepin County, describes the county as 45 cities, and calls the district the largest trial court in Minnesota. Readers search from Brooklyn Park, Maple Grove, Plymouth, Edina, Eden Prairie, and St. Louis Park by name, not by county.
That is not a case for a page per city. A city page earns its place when it has something distinct to say, such as a different courthouse or a different set of client questions. Otherwise one strong Hennepin County page that names the cities you serve beats a stack of near-copies.
Getting the local court facts right
Hennepin County District Court lists its address as 300 South Sixth Street, Minneapolis, the Hennepin County Government Center. The court's Family Court page says Family Court is located in the Government Center. The Probate / Mental Health Court handles cases involving the property of deceased persons, wills, trusts, guardianships, and conservatorships.
Suburban criminal and traffic cases are heard by city. The court's suburban courts page lists Brookdale at 6125 Shingle Creek Pkwy. in Brooklyn Center, serving cities such as Brooklyn Park, Champlin, Crystal, Maple Grove, New Hope, and Robbinsdale, and Ridgedale at 12601 Ridgedale Drive in Minnetonka, serving cities such as Edina, Eden Prairie, Hopkins, Plymouth, St. Louis Park, and Wayzata. We check every court name and address against the court's own pages before it goes on yours.
Where Minneapolis differs
Court locations here change. The Hennepin County District Court page announced that the Family Justice Center is closing and that in-person Family Court hearings moved to the Government Center. A family law page that still sends readers to the Family Justice Center is out of date, and an AI answer drawn from it would repeat the error. Pages that name a courthouse need a review date and an owner.
The suburban split matters too. A Brooklyn Park reader and an Edina reader with the same misdemeanor question are headed to different buildings, so a criminal defense page that names only downtown gives half the county the wrong answer.
What we build for Minneapolis firms
- Practice-area pages that name the Government Center and the right suburban court for the matter
- A Hennepin County page set covering the cities you serve, split only where the content differs
- A court-facts review on a schedule, so moves like the Family Court relocation reach your pages
The family law guide and the criminal defense guide show the pages those two practices tend to need here. Before planning suburb pages, read whether city pages still work for lawyers.
Common questions
Should my firm build a page for every Hennepin County city?
Only where a page has something distinct to say, such as a different suburban courthouse or different client questions. One strong county page that names the cities you serve is usually the better first step.
Where should a Minneapolis family law page say Family Court is?
The court's own Family Court page says it is located in the Hennepin County Government Center at 300 South Sixth Street. We recheck that against the court's pages before publishing, because the court has recently moved Family Court hearings.
